What is OET?
In full OET means the Occupational English Test. The OET is an international English test designed specifically for healthcare professionals to prove their ability to communicate effectively. OET Medicine is the English exam for Doctors. If you are interested in OET Nursing for Nurses, please click here.
The OET test is the preferred English test for study or work in healthcare in English-speaking countries. It is trusted by hospitals, universities in the UK, the US, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai and Singapore, and it is approved for ECFMG certification.
OET Medicine can be taken as either a computer-based test or a paper-based test, and your OET booking can be made easily online, where you can see upcoming OET exam dates for your location. It measures your language communication skills in the areas of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The tasks simulate real scenarios in healthcare workplaces, and use medical vocabulary to equip you with the language you will need in your everyday work.
For OET scoring, for each sub-test, you receive a scaled score from 0 to 500, and a letter grade from E to A. The OET score you need will depend on the country, workplace, college or university you are applying to.
