Frequently Asked Questions

Intermediate covers CEFR levels B1 to B2. At B1 you handle most situations while travelling, describe experiences and give brief reasons for opinions. At B2 you interact with fluency, hold your own in discussion, and produce clear detailed text across a range of subjects.
B1 speakers handle familiar topics with confidence but hesitate on abstract or unfamiliar subjects. B2 speakers argue a viewpoint, follow extended discussion and read complex texts in reasonable comfort. E2's free Score Calculator returns an indicative CEFR level in minutes.
B2 maps to IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, or PTE 46 to 66, which meets some university and visa requirements and falls short of others. Many programs ask for higher. If you need a specific score, take the relevant test prep course instead of a general English course.
Progress at this stage comes from widening vocabulary range and handling complex grammar with accuracy, rather than learning new basics. Consistent exposure to longer texts and extended speaking practice matters most. Many learners plateau at B1 because they stop pushing into unfamiliar material.
A fully online, self-paced bundle for intermediate learners, built to lift general English across grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, writing and speaking. Study whenever suits you, with video lessons and practice activities you can repeat as often as you need.
Take the test's prep course when you need a specific IELTS, PTE, OET or CELPIP score for a visa, university or registration, because it teaches the exam technique a general course leaves out. Intermediate English fits better when you want broader improvement without a deadline.
E2Language is an Australian EdTech company that has prepared over 2.7 million learners for English tests and general English. The official bodies behind OET, IELTS through IDP, CELPIP and PTE all recognise E2, and its teachers are qualified English language professionals, many of them former official examiners.
